Living with Schizoaffective Disorder

Seeking Beta Testers
for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch App

Please help us create an Insanely Great App!

I'm working on my first iOS App: Warp Life™.

Warp Life

Shake to Randomize

It is my own take on Conway's Game of Life, the first of a class of computer programs known as Cellular Automata. We didn't invent the game - it was created by Princeton Mathematician John Conway in the early 1970s. But I have my own special take on it.

When Warp Life is complete, it will be available for free from the Apple iPhone App Store. It will be published under the GNU General Public License version 3.

You could help me do a better job if you would try out preliminary test versions of Warp Life.

Now in Beta Test, the product is stable but, because software engineers are the very worst testers of our own products, I need to know whether my product makes sense to regular Mobile Device users, whether it is enjoyable as well as easy to use. If it's not, tell us why and I'll find some way to address your concerns.

If you'd like to help out, please send the following information to mdcrawford@gmail.com

  1. Your name
  2. Your email address
  3. Your telephone number is optional, but could be very helpful

Provide the UDID for each device that you wish to test with.

Note that Apple's Ad Hoc Distribution requires us to submit the UDID for each individual device in the test. If you want to test with, say, an iPhone and an iPad, we will need the UDID for both of them:

  1. Connect your device to your computer with your USB cable.
  2. Launch iTunes
  3. Click on the icon of your device in the top-left of iTunes' window
  4. Click just once on the Serial Number on the right so that the UDID is displayed.
  5. Select Edit->Copy UDID to copy the UDID to the Clipboard.
  6. Paste your UDID into the email that you are sending to us.

For example, my UDID is:

Don't just send me a screenshot of your UDID!

Some of my Alpha Testers did just that, but the UDID is a forty-digit hexadecimal number, and must be entered in Warp Life 's iPhone Provisioning Portal at Apple's Developer website.

If you send me a screenshot of your UDID rather than following the above instructions to send of the text of your UDID, I will be forced to meticulously copy all forty digits or your UDID by hand into the Provisioning Portal.

If I screw up even one single digit of your UDID, iTunes will refuse to install your Beta build for you!

Beta Testing has resumed with the distribution of version 1.0b3 to my testers. Warp Life will be submitted to Apple for App Store approval after Beta Testing has continued for at least two weeks with no more bugs of any sort being discovered.

When each new build is ready, I will send you a link to a page where you can download it at your convenience. That page also has installation instructions.

Thank You!
